Hong Kong's New Contemporary Chinese Restaurant: Madame Fu

Updated: Sep 29, 2018

Located in Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts, which used to be the colonial-era Central Police Station complex, Madame Fu perfectly blends East and West to create an all-day dining spot for us foodies. The 8,000-square-foot restaurant, features a bar, a whiskey lounge, an open-air terrace, and a private dining area.

As I step into the restaurant, I was already very impresses with artistic décor and ambience. We were then brought to a pearly pink room, oozed with exclusivity and elegance.

Food wise, there wasn't a wide of selection of Dim Sum. We ordered the most classic ones, including the fried pork dumplings, steamed crystal shrimp dumplings, steamed vegetarian dumplings and steamed rice rolls with BBQ pork.

With the beautiful and stylish settings, I do have high expectations on their food as well. However, the contemporary chinese food was not so special. I must say that the portion of dim sum is very small and also comes with quite an expensive price.

The skin of the fried dumplings were too thick, whereas the other dim sums were just average.

[Steamed Fish Rice with Star Garoupa & Garlic/金銀蒜星班球蒸飯] -$158

Carbs of the meal : The rice was very flavourful and I also love the texture of it, but the portion was so small. There was only 2 small piece of fish on top 🐟

[Steamed Garoupa Fillets with Glass Noodles and Fresh Chili / 韮香鮮花椒蒸星班球] -$380

One of their signature dishes! It’s actually pretty good, tender and flavourful and the glass noodles were great as well . But not to the extent where 6 pieces worth $380

Madame Fu encapsulate the charm of Hong Kong’s unique fusion of East and West, and I do think it is a great option to take visiting guests with such a glamorous dinning environment , but I the food just wasn't so impressive to me.
